MLB commissioner Bud Selig said the league wasn't aware of any exemption that New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez had to use a testosterone-boosting substance in 2007. "We did not know about it at the time," Selig said. "These independent people made a judgment. History proved them I guess it turned out to be somewhat wrong, but they were outstanding doctors."

Yankees | Alex Rodriguez granted exemption for testosterone in 2007

Wed, 02 Jul 2014 10:42:52 -0700

New York Yankees 3B Alex Rodriguez was reportedly granted an exemption by MLB to use testosterone prior to his 2007 Most Valuable Player season, according to the book, "Blood Sport: Alex Rodriguez, Biogenesis and the Quest to End Baseball's Steroid Era" by Tom Elfrink and Gus Garcia-Roberts. The book claims Rodriguez was given a therapeutic use exemption to treat hypogonadism, a testosterone deficiency. Rodriguez hit a league-high 48 home runs in 2007 and drove in 130 runs while hitting .321.

Fantasy Tip: A-Rod's steroids exploits back in 2007 is ancient history at this point. It doesn't change the fact that he's out for the entire 2014 season.
