The Milwaukee Brewers have placed SS Cesar Izturis (hamstring) on the 15-day disabled list because of a strained left hamstring. In a corresponding move, SS Edwin Maysonet has been recalled from Triple-A Nashville.

Milwaukee Brewers SS Alex Gonzalez (knee) will undergo surgery to fix a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season. SS Cesar Izturis is expected to see most of the playing time at shortstop in Gonzalez's absence.
