Milwaukee Brewers SS Alex Gonzalez (knee) will undergo surgery to fix a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee and will miss the rest of the season. SS Cesar Izturis is expected to see most of the playing time at shortstop in Gonzalez's absence.

The Milwaukee Brewers placed SS Alex Gonzalez (knee) on the 15-day disabled list Saturday, May 5, due to a knee injury. The severity of his injury will be determined Monday, May 7, when he has an MRI. "It's something bad," Gonzalez feared, after hurting his knee on a slide Saturday.
