Nick Eatman reports for DallasCowboys.com that Dallas Cowboys RB Troy Hambrick (shoulder) practiced on Friday and is expected to start against the Falcons this weekend. Head coach Dave Campo said Hambrick's bruised shoulder is a concern. Michael Wiley would be the next RB off the bench if Hambrick suffered a setback before or during the game. The team also has Tony Taylor, who will be active for this weekend's game.

According to Chip Brown of the Dallas Morning News the Dallas Cowboys have signed WR Anthony Lucas, LB Lewis Mackey, RB Tony Taylor, OT James Wagstaff and DE Colston Weatherington to their practice squad. Informationally, practice squad players are not on the active roster and earn $4,000 a week for 17 weeks (or $68,000).

The Dallas Morning News reports although the Dallas Cowboys did not announce their roster cuts, the affected players know who they are. RB John Avery, WR Damon Hodge and DT Ben Williams were among the players with experience who did not make the final roster. S Sean Key, WR Anthony Lucas, rookie RB Tony Taylor, rookie LB Lewis Mackey and rookie DL Colston Weatherington, a seventh-round draft pick were also cut. There is hope some of the rookie cuts can be reclaimed for the Cowboys practice squad.

According to the Dallas Morning News, a handful of players on the "bubble" helped themselves tremendously in the Dallas Cowboys second straight pre-season victory Thursday night. DE Peppi Zellner, returning from a knee injury, had two sacks, one that caused a fumble, and another tackle behind the line of scrimmage. Undrafted free agent CB Jason Bell may have locked up a roster spot with his special teams play. He blocked a punt Thursday that resulted in a touchdown by Cowboys S Earl Riley. RB Tony Taylor looked good. WR Reggie Swinton continued to make plays on special teams. Undrafted free agent LB Jamal Brooks continues to show the instincts to play all of the linebacker positions.

The Associated Press reports the Dallas Cowboys beat the Jaguars Thursday night, 27-17. Dallas backup RB Troy Hambrick scored on a 45-yard TD run. Dallas RB Tony Taylor scored the go-ahead touchdown for Dallas on a spinning 18-yard run in the third quarter. Dallas QB Quincy Carter completed five of 13 passes for 107. Earl Riley's 21-yard return of a blocked punt provided the first Dallas TDA, Shane Mack put Jacksonville ahead with TD runs of 1 and 49 yards. RB Stacey Mack had put Jacksonville ahead with TD runs of 1 and 49 yards.

As an update to a previous story, DallasCowboys.com reports with RB Emmitt Smith expected to sit in next week’s pre-season game against the Raiders, RBs Michael Wiley, John Avery and Troy Hambrick will share the vast majority of carries and all will be monitored closely. RBs Tony Taylor and Denvis Manns are expected to see action as well.

The team brought in 16 free agents to mini-camp, but only a few signed to this point. The signed players are: Arkansas LB Jerry Jones, North Carolina OT James Wagstaff, Northwestern DT Javier Collins, WR Adrian Burnette (Tulane), RB Tony Taylor (Northwestern State), FB Kenny Williamson (Mississippi State) and DE Demetric Evans (Georgia).
