Baltimore Orioles OF Nate McLouth drove in two runs in both of the Orioles' first two postseason games, becoming the sixth player to record consecutive multi-RBI games in the playoffs in club history. He joined Mike Bordick (1997), Todd Zeile (1996), Kiko Garcia (1979), Brooks Robinson (1970) and Boog Powell (twice in 1970) in that club.

According to The Baltimore Sun, Roberto Alomar is among 15 first-time candidates on this year's Hall of Fame ballot. Edgar Martinez, Barry Larkin and Fred McGriff also are new to the ballot this year. There are 26 candidates, three more than last year. Also on the ballot for the first time are Kevin Appier, Ellis Burks, Andres Galarraga, Pat Hentgen, Mike Jackson, Eric Karros, Ray Lankford, Shane Reynolds, David Segui, Robin Ventura and Todd Zeile.

Updating a previous item, The New York Times's Chuck Finder reports New York Mets IF Todd Zeile got a start at catcher Saturday, Sept. 18, the first time since Sept. 1, 1990 Zeile has donned a mask and sat behind the plate.

The New York Times reports New York Mets IF Todd Zeile will catch SP Tom Glavine Friday, Sept. 17, telling reporters he wanted to catch one last game before he retired at the end of the season. Zeile began his career as a catcher and has not caught a big-league game since Sept. 1, 1990.

Updating earlier reports, KFFL has learned New York Mets IF Todd Zeile (ear) hit a two-run homer in his first at-bat Thursday, May 20. Zeile was a late insertion into the lineup after receiving eight stitches in his right ear.

KFFL has learned New York Mets 3B Todd Zeile (ear) was inserted into the starting lineup Thursday, May 20, minutes before the game against the St. Louis Cardinals after receiving medical clearance to play. He received eight stitches in his right ear after being spiked when he did a pop-up slide into second base while attempting to break up a double play.
