The Dallas Cowboys spent Monday, Aug. 25 trying to trade RB Michael Wiley, a three-year veteran, according to Nick Eatman of DallasCowboys.com. If the team finds no takers, Wiley will likely be released on Tuesday, Aug. 26.

Cowboys | Team To Sign Murrell

Matt Mosley, of the Dallas Morning News, reports the Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a contract with free agent RB Adrian Murrell, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones confirmed Wednesday, August 13. Murrell is expected to be in uniform for Wednesday's afternoon practice. Jones said the Cowboys' interest in Murrell has more to do with the injury to RB Michael Wiley (rotator cuff) than a dis-satisfaction with Cowboys RB Troy Hambrick. Murrell, who has not played in two years, weighs 222 pounds. Jones says he would have to lose 7-8 pounds.

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Dallas Cowboys RB Michael Wiley (shoulder) did not practice Tuesday, August 12. According to Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, Wiley is seeking a second opinion on a rotator cuff injury that kept him out of the Saturday, August 9 pre-season opener against the Arizona Cardinals. Wiley and the Cowboys, however, appear to be differing over the severity of the injury.

ESPN.com's Len Pasquarelli reports Dallas Cowboys RB Troy Hambrick appears to be more the team's heir unapparent to the starting running back role due to being overweight. At this point in the off-season, RB Michael Wiley appears to be the more worthy successor to departed Emmitt Smith.
