New York Mets 1B Fernando Tatis (shoulder) underwent right shoulder surgery to fix a labrum tear and to clean out the AC joint Wednesday, July 14, according to ESPNNewYork.com's Adam Rubin. Tatis was also moved to the 60-day disabled list Thursday, July 15.

Mike Puma, of the New York Post, reports New York Mets manager Jerry Manuel said OF Christopher Carter is another option to fill in at first base while 1B Daniel Murphy (knee) is sidelined. 1B Mike Jacobs is the favorite to see the majority of playing time there. The team also has 1B Fernando Tatis. Carter is battling with OF Frank Catalanotto for the final roster spot.
