Updating previous items, Pirates.MLB.com's Bryan Hoch reports Pittsburgh Pirates 3B Joe Randa (foot) has begun wearing a protective boot on his right foot, but could still end up going on the disabled list if he doesn't see any improvement in his bruised right foot. "It's kind of a trial-and-error thing," said Randa. "We'll try to do treatment as much as we can and get [the inflammation] out of there. If we can't, we'll make a decision after that." Randa has not played since Monday, May 1, and he said an MRI exam has revealed a slight stress fracture on the side of his foot. "There's bruising on the bone that has not gone away, and on the side there's a slight stress fracture," Randa said. "But the stress fracture, I don't really feel that it's causing me pain. The pain is the inflammation that's caused from the bruise." Randa has not been able to push off his back foot in the batters' box.
