Buster Olney, of ESPN.com, reports Kansas City Royals 3B Alex Gordon has been working with former MLB 3B Joe Randa on improving his defense in the offseason. Gordon has been focusing on his mechanics and getting his feet in the right position so that he does not have to put too much strain on his arm.

"He fits in well in this series," said Pittsburgh Pirates manager Jim Tracy. "If you look at the success he's had against some of the pitchers we've faced he fits in well. He's a guy you feel can help you offensively."
