Cubs | Bill Mueller resigns

Tue, 07 Oct 2014 10:23:41 -0700

Chicago Cubs hitting coach Bill Mueller has resigned from his position with the team, but OF Manny Ramirez isn't expected to take over as the hitting coach, according to a source. The Cubs are close to hiring a replacement for Mueller. Ramirez received positive reviews while coaching Triple-A Iowa, but he's not in consideration to replace Mueller. Ramirez could be in the mix for the assistant hitting coach position, though. The Cubs are waiting for Ramirez to officially retire before commenting on him as a coach.
