Nick Piecoro, of The Arizona Republic, is reporting Arizona Diamondbacks IF Jeff Cirillo will start at second base in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series Oct. 15, in place of IF Augie Ojeda. Cirillo is 2-for-2 as a pinch hitter in the series. Ojeda is 2-for-12 (.167) with nine runners left on base in the series.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports Minnesota Twins IF Jeff Cirillo would play one or two games in the New York Mets series, especially if IF Nick Punto continues to struggle. "That's what we brought him over here for, to play against lefties," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "But if it looks like Nick's fighting it, we'll sure use Cirillo. Yeah, it's an option. While not playing in field, both will serve as the designated hitter in their respective games off. 3B Jeff Cirillo will replace Morneau at first base and OF Lew Ford will replace Hunter in center field.
