Diamondbacks | Cirillo will start NLCS Game 4

Nick Piecoro, of The Arizona Republic, is reporting Arizona Diamondbacks IF Jeff Cirillo will start at second base in Game 4 of the National League Championship Series Oct. 15, in place of IF Augie Ojeda. Cirillo is 2-for-2 as a pinch hitter in the series. Ojeda is 2-for-12 (.167) with nine runners left on base in the series.

The Associated Press reports Minnesota Twins IF Jeff Cirillo (knees) was unable to play in the game Tuesday night, June 26. He's been the team's primary option at first base while 1B Justin Morneau (bruised right lung) recovers from an injury that left him hospitalized for three days.

Updating a previous report, Kelly Thesier, of Minnesota.Twins.MLB.com, reports Minnesota Twins 3B Jeff Cirillo started at third base in place of 3B Nick Punto Tuesday, June 19, and manager Ron Gardenhire will try to keep him in the starting lineup Wednesday, June 20, either at second or third base.

The Minneapolis Star-Tribune reports Minnesota Twins IF Jeff Cirillo would play one or two games in the New York Mets series, especially if IF Nick Punto continues to struggle. "That's what we brought him over here for, to play against lefties," Twins manager Ron Gardenhire said. "But if it looks like Nick's fighting it, we'll sure use Cirillo. Yeah, it's an option. But he has to be healthy."

Kelly Thesier, of Minnesota.Twins.MLB.com, reports Minnesota Twins 1B Justin Morneau and OF Torii Hunter will each get a game off from the field in the team's upcoming series against the Texas Rangers. While not playing in field, both will serve as the designated hitter in their respective games off. 3B Jeff Cirillo will replace Morneau at first base and OF Lew Ford will replace Hunter in center field.
