The New York Yankees finalized their deal to re-sign 3B Eric Chavez Monday, Feb. 27. He will back up 3B Alex Rodriguez at third base, 1B Mark Teixeira at first and serve as the designated hitter on occasion. He will make $900,000 this year that could equal $3.05 million based on incentives for plate appearances; he'll get $50,000 for 75 plate appearances, $100,000 each for 100 and 150, $200,000 each for 200 and 250, $300,000 each for 300 and 350, $400,000 each for 400 and 450 and $500,000 each for 500 and 500.
