The Cincinnati Reds activated 3B Miguel Cairo (hamstring) from the 15-day disabled list Monday, May 7, and outrighted OF Willie Harris to Triple-A Louisville in a corresponding move. Cairo went 0-for-10 with two strikeouts in three rehab games with Single-A Dayton.

Cincinnati Reds INF Miguel Cairo (hamstring) will begin a rehab assignment with Single-A Daytona Thursday, May 3, and will play again Friday, May 4, and Saturday, May 5. He's expected to receive four at-bats per game and could rejoin the team Monday, May 7.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Miguel Cairo (hamstring) won't come off the disabled list yet. Cairo will go on a minor league rehab assignment and rejoin the team "some time" on their road trip.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Miguel Cairo (hamstring) is making progress with his strained left hamstring. He was injured April 14. "I ran and hit the last two days and had no discomfort," Cairo said. "It's just one day at a time right now." Cairo is eligible to come off the 15-day disabled list Monday, April 30, but he was uncertain if he would be ready then.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Scott Rolen (rest) was held out of the starting lineup Sunday, April 8, in a day game after night game situation. 3B Miguel Cairo got the start in his absence and went 0-for-4 with an RBI. Rolen made a pinch-hitting appearance in the ninth inning, delivering with an infield single and RBI.

Cincinnati Reds manager Dusty Baker said he's not worried about the health of 3B Scott Rolen this year. Baker is confident Rolen will be out on the field and will play as many games as his body will allow. However, Baker plans to keep Rolen fresh this spring and won't overwork him. INFs Juan Francisco, Wilson Valdez, Chris Valaika, Todd Frazier, Willie Harris and Paul Janish are all in the mix for the last bench spots, and any one of them could wind up spelling Rolen at third. INF Miguel Cairo is another option.

Cincinnati Reds 3B Miguel Cairo (shoulder) had arthroscopic surgery on his right shoulder Friday, Sept. 23. The procedure was done to clean up the right shoulder. He is expected to be ready for spring training.
