Spencer Fordin, of MLB.com, reports free-agent IF Aaron Boone (Astros) has announced his retirement from baseball. He plans to begin working as a broadcaster with ESPN.

Yahoo! Sports' Tim Brown reports free agent 1B Aaron Boone (Astros) is considering opportunities in at least one front office and in broadcasting, according to his agent Adam Katz. There is still a chance he could sign to play with a team next season, though.

The Associated Press reports Houston Astros IF Aaron Boone (heart) is set to rejoin the team Friday, Aug. 28, about five months after undergoing open-heart surgery. He will be activated from the disabled list when rosters expand Sept. 1. Boone is 3-for-15 with one RBI with Double-A Corpus Christi and 0-for-4 in two games with Triple-A Round Rock.
