Rays | Blalock close to signing The St. Petersburg Times' Marc Topkin reports the Tampa Bay Rays are close to signing free-agent 1B Hank Blalock (Rangers) to a minor league deal. MLB | Blalock deciding between two clubs Roger Mooney, of The Tampa Tribune, reports free-agent 3B Hank Blalock (Rangers) is reportedly deciding between minor league offers from the Florida Marlins and Tampa Bay Rays. Marlins | Blalock attracting attention On his South Florida SunSentinel blog, Florida Marlins reporter Juan C. Rodriguez confirms the Marlins are in fact interested in free-agent IF Hank Blalock (Rangers). It's unclear whether they've extended an offer to the two-time All-Star, but the Marlins have spoken multiple times with Scott Boras, Blalock's agent. Rodriguez warns that if Blalock is looking for a starting job, Florida isn't the place for him; the Marlins' interest is limited to at-bats off the bench and perhaps the occasional spot start at first.
