Rangers | Prince Fielder sitting vs. lefty

Mon, 16 May 2016 15:32:48 -0700

Texas Rangers 1B Prince Fielder is not in the starting lineup against Oakland Athletics left-handed SP Sean Manaea Monday, May 16. 3B Adrian Beltre is the designated hitter. 2B Hanser Alberto is starting at third base and hitting ninth, while OF Ryan Rua moves to first base and is batting sixth. OF Justin Ruggiano draws into the lineup in left field and is hitting seventh. Also, SS Elvis Andrus moves up to the two-hole.

Fantasy Tip: After a bounceback year in 2015, Fielder is hurting his fantasy owners big time with a slash line of .184/.253/.277 with just two home runs and 20 RBI in 38 games. If you have better options at first base, you should seriously consider benching Fielder for an extended period until he shows signs of life. Alberto, Rua and Ruggiano are all low-end options in daily games. Andrus gains notable value for DFS tonight, but has a limited ceiling in terms of what he can offer in terms of power and speed on a given day.

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 with two home runs, four RBI and two runs scored in a 10-5 win over the Detroit Tigers Saturday, May 7.

Fantasy Tip: The veteran's bat still has some life, and he is a starting-caliber third baseman in all formats.

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 2-for-4 in a 5-0 loss to the Chicago White Sox Friday, April 22, and he has hit safely in 12 of his last 13 games.

Fantasy Tip: The 37-year-old can still swing the bat, and he remains a top-10 fantasy third baseman.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre receives extension

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 17:17:33 -0700

Updating a previous report, the Texas Rangers have agreed to terms with 3B Adrian Beltre on a two-year, $18 million contract extension.

Fantasy Tip: Despite his age, Beltre is still a very productive player and makes an excellent choice at the hot corner for daily fantasy contests. Over his last seven days, the 37-year-old is batting .391 with two home runs, five doubles, seven RBI and an OPS of 1.310.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre close to receiving extension?

Fri, 15 Apr 2016 17:02:04 -0700

The Texas Rangers appear to be close to finalizing a contract extension with 3B Adrian Beltre, although nothing is official at this point.

Fantasy Tip: The 37-year-old Beltre is off to a strong start this year, batting .310 with two home runs, nine RBI and a league-leading five doubles through 42 at-bats. He is a viable option at the hot corner in daily fantasy leagues, especially when the Rangers are facing a left-handed pitcher.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre hits first home run

Sun, 10 Apr 2016 05:04:26 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre went 3-for-4 with a solo home run during the Rangers 4-1 win over the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim Saturday, April 9.

Fantasy Tip: Despite owning a .304/.360/.522 slash line to start the season, Beltre has just two runs and three RBI through six games. The veteran remains a mid-tier option at the hot corner, but he is still capable of returning excellent numbers for stretches. DFS players will want to keep him in mind against southpaws, too, as Beltre posted a .311/.381/.547 slash line against lefties last season.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre wants extension

Wed, 09 Mar 2016 10:07:17 -0800

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre is seeking a three-year contract extension. There is currently a big gap in contract discussions, but both sides have mutual interest in getting a deal done.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre will be 37 this April but still managed 18 home runs, 83 RBI and a .287 average in 2015. Injuries remain a concern, but when healthy, Beltre still has the ability to approach 30 home runs. Don't doubt him in the early rounds in his great hitting environment.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre extension coming?

Tue, 16 Feb 2016 08:53:16 -0800

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre could sign an extension with the Rangers, and his agent, Scott Boras, said something could get done before the season. Beltre is in the final year of his six-year, $96 million deal. "I think Adrian already had a discussion with them, in which he expressed a desire to stay," Boras said. "They want him there, and we're going to work on that." When asked whether a deal is possible before Opening Day, Boras replied, "I'd say there are certainly grounds for a discussion of advancing Adrian's contract, yes."

Fantasy Tip: Beltre turns 37 in April but still had a good .287-18-83 line last year. The position is stocked more in fantasy than in recent years, but he'll be an attractive option after the first couple third basemen are gone.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre healthy

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 09:08:40 -0800

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb, back) is no longer limited by his surgically repaired left thumb, and the back issues that he dealt with in the American League Division Series in October faded by November. Beltre said he's doing all baseball activities and has four more weeks to prepare for spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre still managed to play in 143 games last year and hit 18 home runs and drove in 83 runs. However, at age 36 he's an added injury risk who is unlikely to return to 30 home runs again, even in a hitter's park. Beltre remains a productive fantasy third baseman when healthy, but the risks might start to outweigh the rewards in 2016.

Rangers | Texas wants to extend Adrian Beltre

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 15:52:27 -0800

The Texas Rangers have interest in extending 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) past the 2016 season. His surgically repaired thumb has responded well.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre is more of an injury concern than ever before for fantasy owners, and he dropped to under .300 for the first time since 2011 last season. He's no longer a lock to five you 20 to 30 home runs, either. Beltre is still heavily productive when he's healthy, but he's no longer worth an elite price in fantasy drafts.
