Rangers | Adrian Beltre healthy

Mon, 25 Jan 2016 09:08:40 -0800

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb, back) is no longer limited by his surgically repaired left thumb, and the back issues that he dealt with in the American League Division Series in October faded by November. Beltre said he's doing all baseball activities and has four more weeks to prepare for spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre still managed to play in 143 games last year and hit 18 home runs and drove in 83 runs. However, at age 36 he's an added injury risk who is unlikely to return to 30 home runs again, even in a hitter's park. Beltre remains a productive fantasy third baseman when healthy, but the risks might start to outweigh the rewards in 2016.

Rangers | Texas wants to extend Adrian Beltre

Wed, 09 Dec 2015 15:52:27 -0800

The Texas Rangers have interest in extending 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) past the 2016 season. His surgically repaired thumb has responded well.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre is more of an injury concern than ever before for fantasy owners, and he dropped to under .300 for the first time since 2011 last season. He's no longer a lock to five you 20 to 30 home runs, either. Beltre is still heavily productive when he's healthy, but he's no longer worth an elite price in fantasy drafts.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre undergoes surgery

Sat, 24 Oct 2015 06:12:22 -0700

Texans Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) underwent surgery on his left thumb Friday, Oct. 23, to repair a damaged ligament in his thumb. Beltre is expected to be ready for the start of spring training.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre will have plenty of time to recover from the surgery and should be ready for spring training. He has seen a drop in his home runs over the last few years but still has posted a solid batting average and RBI totals. Beltre probably will be a middle-round option in most mixed leagues next season.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre injury details

Fri, 16 Oct 2015 14:37:13 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (thumb) has a torn ligament in his left thumb, according to general manager Jon Daniels. There has not been a decision made on whether Beltre will require surgery.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre was visibly hurting during the American League Division Series, and while he was a letdown for most of the first half of the season, he finished at an elite level. Dating back to Friday, July 31, Beltre posted a .335/.385/.556 slash line with 40 runs, 16 doubles, 11 home runs and 58 RBI over 61 games. Still, he'll be entering his age-37 season, and there are a lot of miles on the tires. Being too bullish on draft day is ill-advised next spring.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre talks his way into lineup

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 12:05:43 -0700

Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) is starting at third base and batting third against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey Monday, Oct. 12.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre's ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) injury appeared serious, and the fact he wasn't originally in the starting lineup should be fair warning that he isn't 100%. Third base is a deep position, so FantasyScore players should view Beltre as a risky start in contests Monday.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre not ready

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 11:11:15 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) is slightly improved but isn't ready to start. He took swings in the cages Sunday, Oct. 11, and received more treatment Monday, Oct. 12. Manager Jeff Bannister said running is "most problematic" for Beltre. Beltre hasn't played since straining his back sliding into second base in Game 1 of the division series against the Toronto Blue Jays last Thursday.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre's ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) injury looked pretty serious, so it might be a stretch to expect him to return in the division series. Depending on how he improves if the Rangers advance to the Championship Series, he could be a risky daily selection then, too.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre remains out

Mon, 12 Oct 2015 09:31:19 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) remains out of the lineup for Game 4 of the division series against the Toronto Blue Jays Monday, Oct. 12. 3B Hanser Alberto starts again at the hot corner and is batting ninth against Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Fantasy Tip: Alberto ($1,700, 3.4% of cap) is useful for salary cap relief, but that's about it. He has two hits in his 10 at-bats since filling in for the injured Beltre in the division series.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre out for Game 3 of ALDS

Sun, 11 Oct 2015 14:31:56 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) is out of the starting lineup for Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays on Sunday, Oct. 11. 3B Hanser Alberto is in the starting lineup again.

Fantasy Tip: Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) will get a good rest if the Rangers win Sunday and sweep the Blue Jays. Otherwise, stay tuned to see if he is in the Game 4 lineup on Monday. Alberto has no FantasyScore value but he had a hit and drove in two runs in Game 2.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre remains day-to-day

Sat, 10 Oct 2015 12:02:58 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) was excused from the team's workout Saturday, Oct. 10, so that he could remain at home to recover from a back strain. He is still considered day-to-day.

Fantasy Tip: FantasyScore owners should avoid using Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) in Game 3 Sunday, Oct. 11, even if he is cleared to play, so that he can demonstrate that he is fully healthy. With the Rangers being up 2-0 in the series against Toronto, the team might not have as much urgency to rush him back into the lineup.

Rangers | Adrian Beltre's back improving

Fri, 09 Oct 2015 17:26:09 -0700

Texas Rangers 3B Adrian Beltre (back) said his back is fine but he is uncertain if he will play in Game 3 of the American League Division Series against the Toronto Blue Jays Sunday, Oct. 11.

Fantasy Tip: Despite the Rangers participating in a 14-inning contest against the Jays Friday, Oct. 9, Beltre ($5,900, 11.8% of cap) did not see action in Game 2. FantasyScore owners should probably avoid using him regardless of his status for Game 3, especially given his hefty price tag.
