New York Mets SS Ruben Tejada finished 3-for-6 and completed the three-game series with 10 hits. The last Mets player to accomplish that feat was Edgardo Alfonzo from April 28-30, 2000 against the Rockies. Tejada was 10-for-17 (.588) with five runs scored in the three games.

Former MLB IF Edgardo Alfonzo is playing winter ball in Venezuela with the hopes of being signed by a major league club, preferably the New York Mets, according to Kevin Kernan of the New York Post. Alfonzo last played in the big leagues with the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim in 2006 and spent last year with the Yomiuri Giants of the Japanese League. He feels that he can play two or three more years as a utility player. "My dream is to retire with the Mets colors," Alfonzo said. "That's my dream. That's what I'm praying for, maybe it will happen, maybe not, but dreams sometimes come true, you know."

FOXSports.com's Ken Rosenthal reports former MLB 3B Edgardo Alfonzo impressed teams with his performance in the Venezuelan Winter League. Alfonzo hit .322 with eight homers and 42 RBIs in 60 games and has also lost weight.
