The Chicago Cubs optioned OF Fernando Perez to Triple-A Iowa Thursday, March 24, and reassigned IFs Matt Camp, Scott Moore, Augie Ojeda and Bobby Scales to the minor leagues, according to ESPNChicago.com. With the news, OF Reed Johnson appears to have the final outfield spot.

Chicago Cubs C Augie Ojeda (back) is still unable to play because he is dealing with back spasms, according to MLB.com's Carrie Muskat. "It's been longer than we thought," manager Mike Quade said. "I'm hoping he can get healthy and it doesn't morph into something that lasts for weeks and weeks."

OF Brett Jackson (shoulder) and IF Augie Ojeda (back) are being listed as day-to-day. OF Brad Snyder (oblique) has been dealing with a sore oblique. Castro did not play Monday, March 14.
