The Boston Red Sox have named Gerald Perry hitting coach for Triple-A Pawtucket, Brandon Henry athletic trainer for Double-A Portland, Carlos Febles manager, Darren Fenster hitting coach and Mauricio Elizondo athletic trainer for Class A Greenville, Bruce Crabbe manager and Nelson Paulino hitting coach for Class A Lowell, Billy McMillon manager, Rich Gedman hitting coach and David Herrera athletic trainer for Class A Salem and Noah Hall coach for the GCL Red Sox.

Dick Kaegel, of KansasCity.Royals.MLB.com, reports the Kansas City Royals hired former 2B Carlos Febles as a coach for their new rookie classification club at Burlington, N.C. "We just wanted to get him in the system. We can always use another coach, especially if he's bilingual," said general manager Dayton Moore. Febles spent six years with the Royals, hitting .260 in 506 games from 1998-2003.

Royals | Febles Signs, Could Coach

According to The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton, the Kansas City Royals signed 2B Carlos Febles (knee) to a two-year, minor-league deal. Financial terms were not disclosed. Febles may miss all of the 2005 season due to a torn knee ligament, but the team may have other plans for him. "We signed him not only as a player but as a potential coach," Royals assistant general manager Muzzy Jackson said. "We wanted to get him back in the organization because we've always been impressed with his character."

The AP reports Minnesota Twins C Matt LeCroy threw out Kansas City Royals 2B Carlos Febles while he was trying to steal, marking the first time LeCroy was successful in eight attempts against Febles this year.
