Rangers | Delino DeShields leading off

Fri, 22 Jul 2016 16:05:37 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields Jr. is starting in left field and is hitting leadoff against Kansas City Royals SP Danny Duffy Friday, July 22. 1B Mitch Moreland is on the bench against a lefty, and 2B Jurickson Profar is serving as the designated hitter and batting second.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields was demoted earlier this year after he disappointed with a .217/.294/.302 line in 106 at-bats. He'll likely see limited playing time as outfield depth with Shin-Soo Choo on the DL, but he can be attractive those in AL-only leagues for his speed. Profar should see regular playing time now between first base, DH and the outfield, and his overall .304/.351/.435 line should play in all leagues. His multiposition eligibility also makes him more attractive.

Rangers | Rougned Odor could hit leadoff

Wed, 30 Mar 2016 14:33:23 -0700

Texas Rangers 2B Rougned Odor hit leadoff again in the spring game Wednesday, March 30, with OF Delino DeShields hitting second. Manager Jeff Bannister was non-committal when asked if Odor was a possibility to hit leadoff when the season started. Odor finished the Cactus League hitting .385 with four home runs and 11 RBI, but he has only 11 games of experience at leadoff in the minors.

Fantasy Tip: The Rangers have options at the top of the lineup, and either way, Odor's power-speed combination make him an intriguing fantasy second base option once the bigger names come off the board. A permanent spot at leadoff would hurt his chances of driving in runs, but it shouldn't negatively affect his value in any way.

Rangers | Delino DeShields expected back Friday

Fri, 11 Sep 2015 10:03:01 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields (knee) is expected to return to the lineup against the Oakland Athletics and SP Jesse Chavez Friday, Sept. 11, after missing three games with a sprained left knee.

Fantasy Tip: Most folks will likely overlook DeShields ($3,600, 7.2% of cap) on FantasyScore tonight because he's missed the last three games due to injury. He's been a valuable asset for fantasy owners and the Rangers hitting leadoff, so don't ignore him if he's back in there. Seventeen of his 22 stolen bases this year have come with righties on the mound, too.

Rangers | Delino DeShields leading off again

Thu, 04 Jun 2015 13:32:47 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Delino DeShields is batting first and playing left field against the Chicago White Sox Thursday, June 4.

Fantasy Tip: DeShields ($3,400, 6.8% of cap) should see the majority of starts in left and atop the Rangers' lineup. His seasonal value is on the rise, and he is a solid FantasyScore play in favorable matchups. Thursday might not qualify, though, with capable-lefty Carlos Rodon on the hill for Chicago. However, DeShields does have the handedness advantage.

Rangers | Leonys Martin sitting vs. Tribe

Wed, 27 May 2015 07:04:04 -0700

Texas Rangers OF Leonys Martin is not in the starting lineup against the Cleveland Indians Wednesday, May 27. OF Delino DeShields is starting in center field and leading off Wednesday.

Fantasy Tip: Make sure to remove Martin ($2,400, 4.8% of cap) from your fantasy lineups Wednesday. He is reeling along a 7-for-36 stretch with just three runs, one home run, one RBI and one stolen base over his last 14 games. DeShields ($3,100, 6.2% of cap) is sporting a .441 on-base percentage over his past 14 games with 14 runs and four stolen bases. He is an excellent target for FantasyScore players Wednesday.

He is an excellent low-priced flier with upside for FantasyScore players Wednesday, especially setting the table for a clicking Texas offense.
