The Pittsburgh Pirates named former INF Jay Bell as their new hitting coach Wednesday, Oct. 31. Rick Sofield was hired as the first base coach and Dave Jauss also joins manager Clint Hurdle's staff.

The Arizona Republic's Nick Piecoro reports three former Major League Baseball players, including two ex-Arizona Diamondbacks, will serve as Diamondback instructors during the team's spring camp. Former Diamondbacks IF and bench coach Jay Bell and former 3B Matt Williams also will be in camp as special instructors, as will former San Francisco Giants and St. Louis Cardinals 1B Will Clark.

The Arizona Diamondbacks have named Kirk Gibson as their new bench coach, according to the Associated Press. Gibson, who received a two-year contract, replaces Jay Bell.
