Former MLB IF Kevin Young has been named in the Mitchell Report. Personal trainer and former employee of the New York Mets Kirk Radomski brought Young one or two kits of human growth hormone when the two first met during the 2000-01 offseason. Young would not call Radomski again until 2003, when he purchased five or six kits of human growth hormone.

Mark Sheldon, writing for Twins.MLB.com, reports the Minnesota Twins released minor league 1B Kevin Young from Triple-A Rochester Monday, July 21. Young, the former starting first basemen for the Pittsburgh Pirates , had played only four games for the Twins Triple-A team batting .143 (1-for-7) with three walks.

The long-awaited release of Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Kevin Young has finally happened, according to The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette's Robert Dvorchak. Young was given his unconditional release Saturday night, following a stretch where his numbers fell dramatically over the past two seasons. "It's time for a change. I know that," Young said. "The only thing I regret is that I wanted to see the organization get over the hump. To leave it when it's at the same point it was 10 years ago is the most disturbing part."

The AP’s Alan Robinson reports Pittsburgh Pirates owner Kevin McClatchy stated Wednesday he disagreed strongly with statements made by 1B Kevin Young that poor fan support was a contributing factor to the team’s 6-16 home record. Young also said that the fans who did show up weren’t as supportive as fans from other cities. “I don’t share Kevin Young’s opinion,” said McClatchy, who thinks winning would help increase attendance, which is currently down about 15 percent from last year. McClatchy was later observed talking with Young before Wednesday’s game; the two also shook hands.

Joe Rutter, reporting for The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review, writes Pittsburgh Pirates first baseman Kevin Young played his 1,000th career game at first base for the Pirates on Friday night. That is third on the franchise's all-time list, trailing Gus Suhr (1,330 games from 1930-39) and Jake Beckley (1,045 from 1888-1896).
