Drew Olson of The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports Milwaukee Brewers farmhand Lee Stevens, who has been a leading hitter for Triple-A Indianapolis, called general manager Doug Melvin Friday to inform the Brewers of his plans to retire.

The AP reports 1B Lee Stevens was released by the Tampa Bay Devil Rays on Tuesday. He had signed with the team in January as a free agent.

According to Florida Today's Scott Brown, the Montreal Expos will look at three players primarily to fill the first-base void. The Expos will consider Jeff Liefer, Matt Cepicky and Wil Cordero to take first base, which was occupied last year by Lee Stevens.
