Wed, 24 Sep 2008 18:55:04 -0700 MLB.com reports the San Francisco Giants signed 1B J.T. Snow to a one-day contract Wednesday, Sept. 24. Snow will play for the first pitch of the game Saturday, Sept. 27, and will then retire as a member of the team. Snow played his last game in 2006 with the Boston Red Sox.

Thu, 07 Dec 2006 19:40:39 -0800 Updating a previous item, the Associated Press' Janie McCauley reports 1B J.T. Snow officially announced his retirement Thursday, Dec. 7. He last played for the Boston Red Sox but spent nine seasons with the San Francisco Giants over his 15-year major league career. Snow will work with the Giants in several capacities, broadcasting about 20 games on the radio as an analyst, serving as a roving minor league coach and spring training instructor, and advising Giants general manager Brian Sabean. He also didn't rule out some day coaching or managing.

Snow a minor league coach somewhere in their organization, according to a club source. Snow has yet to officially announce his retirement, but he played in just 38 games with the Boston Red Sox last season before being released in June.
