Clarifying a previous item, The San Francisco Chronicle reports San Francisco Giants 1B J.T. Snow will take the field with his teammates prior to the Sept. 27 contest, but he will be replaced in the lineup prior to the first pitch.

MLB.com reports the San Francisco Giants signed 1B J.T. Snow to a one-day contract Wednesday, Sept. 24. Snow will play for the first pitch of the game Saturday, Sept. 27, and will then retire as a member of the team. Snow played his last game in 2006 with the Boston Red Sox.

The Mercury News reports the San Francisco Giants will make a major announcement at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 24. The announcement involves former MLB 1B J.T. Snow.

Giants | Snow retires; will work for team

Updating a previous item, the Associated Press' Janie McCauley reports 1B J.T. Snow officially announced his retirement Thursday, Dec. 7. He last played for the Boston Red Sox but spent nine seasons with the San Francisco Giants over his 15-year major league career. Snow will work with the Giants in several capacities, broadcasting about 20 games on the radio as an analyst, serving as a roving minor league coach and spring training instructor, and advising Giants general manager Brian Sabean. He also didn't rule out some day coaching or managing.

Giants | Snow to be made minor league coach

Andrew Baggarly, of the Contra Costa Times, reports the San Francisco Giants are expected to make former 1B J.T. Snow a minor league coach somewhere in their organization, according to a club source. Snow has yet to officially announce his retirement, but he played in just 38 games with the Boston Red Sox last season before being released in June.

The Hartford Courant's David Heuschkel reports the Boston Red Sox are trying to fulfill 1B J.T. Snow's request of a trade. Snow wants more playing time, and that's only going to come from another team.

Ian Browne, of RedSox.MLB.com, reports Boston Red Sox manager Terry Francona plans to rest 2B Mark Loretta and 3B Mike Lowell Saturday, April 15. As a result, 3B Kevin Youkilis will start at third base, 2B Alex Cora will start at second base and 1B J.T. Snow will start at first base.

Red Sox | Father Of J.T. Snow Dies

The Boston Herald reports former Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Jack Snow, father of Boston Red Sox 1B J.T. Snow, died Jan. 9 following complications from a staph infection. He was 62 years old. KFFL extends its condolences to the Snow family and friends.
