Rodney McKissic, of the Buffalo News, reports Buffalo Bills OT Aaron Gibson is looking to help his team in any role he can, be it a starter or a reserve along the offensive line. Head coach Dick Jauron, who coached Gibson with the Chicago Bears, says sometimes it is hard for players with high expectations who do not perform to that level to stick in the game, "It takes a certain type of individual to work through that and stay with the game." Jauron is impressed with Gibson's work ethic and thinks he is a good fit for the Bills offensive line.

The former Detroit Lions first-round draft pick has been hampered by injuries and a weight problem that saw him balloon to over 400 lbs. since coming into the league in 1999. Gibson is attempting to win a spot on the Bills' roster.

Larry Mayer, of ChicagoBears.com, reports the Chicago Bears could re-sign OL Aaron Gibson if he tests the open market and doesn't find a starting job with another club this year. "He wants to be a starter, so we're not going to make an offer to Aaron because we're not looking at Aaron as the starter, so it's a moot point," general manager Jerry Angelo said. "He understands that and if he can't get what he wants, maybe we'll revisit it."

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports the Chicago Bears do not plan to shift OT John Tait from right to left tackle anytime soon. ''Not really right now,'' head coach Lovie Smith said when asked if moving Tait was a consideration. ''We know John can play [left tackle] if he had to. We pretty much think he's going to be at right tackle.'' The team may be forced to ponder the possibility especially if OT Aaron Gibson continues to impress the coaching staff in practice.

Brad Biggs, of the Chicago Sun-Times, reports Chicago Bears OT Aaron Gibson, who started every game in 2003 at right tackle, has been very impressive thus far this off-season. ''We came out of the first minicamp, and the biggest surprise, in my opinion, was Aaron Gibson,'' offensive coordinator Terry Shea said. ''Then I got back [Friday, April 16], and he's already lost a serious amount of weight from Day 1. I see nothing but great resolve in that guy. We're going to find the five best players, and he could end up being one of the five best.'' Gibson has also reportedly dropped his weight to 370 pounds and will likely drop below that figure once training camp begins.

Alex Marvez, of the Miami Sun-Sentinel, reports the Chicago Bears have expressed interest in acquiring Miami Dolphins restricted free agent DE Adewale Ogunleye in a trade, according to an NFL source. The Bears would not be willing to sign Ogunleye to a restricted free agent offer sheet that would require first- and third-round draft choices as compensation if the Dolphins didn't match the contract. They would attempt to acquire Ogunleye with a package of draft choices and possibly a veteran, such as OL Aaron Gibson.

Gibson said he was feeling much better Wednesday and was relieved there was no structural damage. If he cannot play, OG Steve Edwards will take his spot at right tackle and OG Corbin Lacina will fill in at left guard.

Updating previous reports, Chicago Bears OT Aaron Gibson (knee) had an MRI on Tuesday, August 5 on his right knee, which showed no structural damage, according to Larry Mayer of ChicagoBears.com. Gibson's knee began swelling towards the end of Monday morning's workout. Head coach Dick Jauron plans to give Gibson at least one day off, while having him possibly do conditioning work in the afternoons instead of practicing.
