The Kansas City Star's Bob Dutton reports Kansas City Royals 1B Calvin Pickering is struggling at the plate, as he is still having trouble finding his swing. "It's like I'm trying to get everything in one game," Pickering said, "instead of being patient and doing my own thing. I don't know. I had some good swings, but I feel like I've got to get it done, get it done, get it done now."

Updating a previous item, the Associated Press reports Kansas City Royals 1B/DH Calvin Pickering homered Monday night, Aug. 23, giving him three home runs and eight RBI in two games since being recalled from Triple-A Omaha. Both of his starts came as the team's DH.

Dick Kaegel, of Royals.MLB.com, reports Kansas City Royals 1B Calvin Pickering hit two home runs in his Royals debut Sunday, Aug. 22, including a grand slam. His second homer of the game went 440 feet to dead center. The 27-year-old has the frame to put balls in the seats, going 6-5, 260.
