Contrary to previous reports, a source claims that the Detroit Tigers are reportedly looking at free-agent OF/DH Johnny Damon (Rays). He appears to be a more likely candidate to join the team than free-agent 1B Derrek Lee (Pirates).

The Cleveland Indians are looking at right-handed bats such as free-agent 1B Derrek Lee (Pirates), OF Andruw Jones (Yankees) and OF Mike Cameron (Marlins). The Indians are also willing to trade their bullpen depth to get this done.

The Pittsburgh Pirates offered 1B Derrek Lee (Type B) arbitration, but didn't offer it to OF Ryan Ludwick or C Chris Snyder. The Pirates already received a draft pick when C Ryan Doumit (Type B) signed with the Minnesota Twins.

The Minnesota Twins will pursue options at first base this winter in case 1B Justin Morneau (concussion, wrist, knee) isn't able to play many games at the position next season. Either way, the Twins will likely use Morneau as the designated hitter often. Free-agent 1B Derrek Lee (Pirates) could be an option, or OF Michael Cuddyer could play first base if he is re-signed. INF Chris Parmelee is another in-house option.
