Helms was assigned to Triple-A Gwinnett, and he'll join the team in Charlotte Saturday, Aug. 20. He batted .191 with no homers and six RBIs in 69 games with Florida this season.

"We are going to, with absolute certainty, explore this and contact the union and make sure Logan's rights are protected," Morrison's agent said.
Morrison balked at attending a team function Saturday, and consulted with now former 3B Wes Helms, the team's union rep, who advised him he didn't have to attend. Morrison was demoted, and Helms released, but the team said it was due to the player's performance on the field.

Manager Edwin Rodriguez said that OF Emilio Bonifacio will likely be used off the bench when Morrison returns. 3Bs Greg Dobbs and Wes Helms will continue to receive starts at third base, but Bonifacio is also an option there.
