When Colorado Rockies SP Jamie Moyer drove in two runs with an infield single in the fourth inning in Colorado's 6-1 win over the Arizona Diamondbacks on Wednesday, May 16, he became the oldest player in major-league history with an RBI, at 49 years and 180 days in age. That breaks the record of Julio Franco, who was 155 days younger when he got the last of his 1,194 ribbies in 2007.

Confirming previous reports, the Atlanta Braves will recall 1B Julio Franco from Class A Rome, Saturday, Sept. 1, when rosters expand, according to the Associated Press.

David O'Brien, of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, reports the Atlanta Braves have assigned 1B Julio Franco to Class A Rome with the understanding that he will return to the big-league club when rosters expand in September. As well, because of his experience and defensive ability, Franco is a good bet to make the team's postseason roster should they make the playoffs.

The Associated Press' George Henry reports Atlanta Braves 1B Julio Franco got the start at first base Thursday, July 19, in his first game with Atlanta since the 2005 season. He went 1-for-3 and drove in two runs from the seventh spot in the order.

Jeff Lutz, of Braves.MLB.com, reports Atlanta Braves 1B Julio Franco will be used more frequently than he was playing for the New York Mets. Franco will start occasionally at first base, and will also receive ample at-bats pinch-hitting late in games.
