The Miami Marlins aren't necessarily looking for a candidate with tons of managerial experience to replace manager Ozzie Guillen. Former 3B Mike Lowell and OF Jeff Conine have been mentioned, along with Toronto Blue Jays Class A skipper Mike Redmond. The Marlins will need permission to speak with Redmond, but it isn't believed to be an issue. Miami will not consider former Boston Red Sox manager Bobby Valentine.

Marlins.MLB.com's Joe Frisaro reports former MLB OF Jeff Conine will compete in the Ford Ironman World Championship in Hawaii Oct. 11. The Ford Ironman consists of a 2.4-mile swim, a 112-mile bike ride and a 26.2-mile run.

Joe Frisaro, of Marlins.MLB.com, reports former MLB OF Jeff Conine has been invited to compete in the Ford Ironman World Championship in Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. "I've always been a fan of watching the Ironman program on TV. The triathlon is something I've always wanted to do," Conine said.
