The remaining candidates include Greg Colbrunn, Scott Fletcher, Victor Rodriguez and Rick Schu. It's believed that Boston will hire one of the remaining candidates as the hitting coach and another from the group to serve as the assistant.
Sun, 18 Nov 2012 11:50:12 -0800 The Boston Red Sox will interview former MLB INFs Craig Counsell and Greg Colbrunn for their hitting coach vacancy this week. Counsell will be interviewed Monday, Nov. 19, while Colbrunn's date has not yet been determined. Former Arizona Diamondbacks hitting coach Rick Schu, Red Sox minor league hitting coordinator Victor Rodriguez and Atlanta Braves assistant hitting coach Scott Fletcher have already been interviewed. The team is still considering a two-coach approach to hitting instruction, although that idea will likely be based upon personnel.

Colbrunn will be unable to resume baseball activity for eight weeks and will not be able to return to the lineup until August, according to manager Buck Showalter.
