Former major league C Vance Wilson, who tried out for the Kansas City Royals but didn't make the 2010 roster, was named manager for the club's Class A affiliate in Kane County, according to The Kansas City Star's Dick Kaegel.

Sam Mellinger, of The Kansas City Star, reports the Kansas City Royals signed free-agent C Vance Wilson (Tigers) to a minor league deal Wednesday, Jan. 7. Wilson will continue to rehab from his right elbow injury and will not be ready to compete in Spring Training. Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
