Updating a previous report, Texas Rangers C Yorvit Torrealba (head) left the game Friday, May 11, against the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim due to a head contusion. He will be monitored for a possible concussion.

Texas Rangers C Yorvit Torrealba (head) was hit in the head by the back swing of Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim 1B Albert Pujols, and he was hit hard. It's uncertain if Torrealba suffered a concussion and will need a stint on the 7-day disabled list.

Texas Rangers C Yorvit Torrealba will start behind the plate on opening day Friday, April 6, with C Mike Napoli at first base and 1B Mitch Moreland on the bench. OF David Murphy will start in left field with OF Josh Hamilton in center.

Texas Rangers 1B Brad Hawpe (hamstring) was scratched from a spring game Monday, March 19, with tightness in his left hamstring. C Yorvit Torrealba (back) sat out Monday after being scratched with lower back stiffness Sunday, March 19. He will be fine.

Texas Rangers C Mike Napoli (ankle) had his ankle taped for a workout Monday, Feb. 20, and his ankle remains a concern. However, Napoli says he'll be ready for opening day. "I sprained it pretty good," Napoli said. "Sometimes a high-ankle sprain takes awhile. I've heard some people (say) it's better to break it. I've sprained ankles before, but not like that. I was told it would take awhile." C Yorvit Torrealba will still see playing time to spell Napoli this season, according to manager Ron Washington. Napoli will also see time at first base and designated hitter.

Texas Rangers C Yorvit Torrealba has been suspended 66 games by the Venezuelan Winter League for hitting an umpire during an argument Friday, Dec. 23. The suspension goes through the rest of this winter ball season and all of next year's schedule. The penalty will not carry over to Major League Baseball.
