Fri, 19 Jul 2002 00:43:16 -0700 Add Cleveland Indians catcher Eddie Taubensee to the list of players voluntarily retired due to injury. Taubensee told the Cleveland Plain Dealer three degenerative discs in his lower back have made it impossible to play baseball, so he's calling it quits after a decade. Taubensee never played this season, as he was placed on the DL in March and replaced by Einar Diaz in the lineup.
