Dallas Cowboys officials will be speaking with C Andre Gurode's agent, Kennard McGuire, Monday, Aug. 29, regarding his status with the team. Owner/general manager Jerry Jones said Gurode was benched during the team's preseason game Saturday, Aug. 27, for business decisions. The Cowboys are thinking of either cutting Gurode or keeping him at a reduced salary.

Dallas Cowboys rookie C Kevin Kowalski started at center Saturday, Aug. 27, because veteran C Andre Gurode was inactive and C Phil Costa (knee) was out of action. Gurode could be a salary cap casualty. Head coach Jason Garrett thought Kowalski handled himself well and said Kowalski was mostly on the same page with QB Tony Romo.

The Dallas Cowboys are considering parting with C Andre Gurode. The impediment to trading Gurode is his salary of about $4.5 million. He also is coming off knee surgery. However, Gurode is a good enough player for teams to think about making a deal.

Dallas Cowboys C Andre Gurode (knee) had right knee surgery less than a month ago, which was a surprise to the team's officials. Head coach Jason Garret said they are viewing him as day to day, but they hope his knee responds well to treatment and he is able to return to the field soon.

Three Dallas Cowboys' veterans met with WR Dez Bryant Saturday, April 23, reports Gerry Fraley, of The Dallas Morning News. According to a message from Bryant's Twitter account, he had a lunch meeting with QB Tony Romo, C Andre Gurode and LB Keith Brooking at an unknown location. "Had a good time," Bryant said on his account.

Gurode and TE Jason Witten have said in recent weeks that players would be reaching out to Bryant in an attempt to help him through current problems and put him on the right track.

Bryant's offseason has included a run-in with security at a shopping mall and having two lawsuits filed against him, alleging the non-payment of more than $850,000 in jewelry and sports tickets.

OG Kyle Kosier has battled injuries and is a free agent. C Andre Gurode will probably return, but he has a degenerative knee condition. OG Leonard Davis might have to take a pay cut to return, and OT Marc Colombo is not expected to return as he has been compromised by injuries.

Dallas Cowboys head coach Wade Phillips is still confident OG Kyle Kosier (knee) can slide over to center if something happens to C Andre Gurode, reports ESPNDallas.com's Tim MacMahon. Kosier has never played a game at center and will spend the next four to six weeks recovering from a sprained MCL in his right knee. Dallas plans to evaluate OL Phil Costa, an undrafted rookie, for at least the next game or two before deciding if they need to pursue another option at the position. The Cowboys have no interest in signing unrestricted free-agent C Kevin Mawae (Titans) and will likely wait until after the first cuts in September if they sign another center.
