Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski made another start Tuesday, April 28, against the Washington Nationals and he had three singles and a double in four at-bats while scoring a run, walking once and driving in four runs out of the cleanup spot. Pierzynski has a .475 average with 14 RBIs in 40 career at-bats against the Nationals.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski was signed to be the backup to Christian Bethancourt, but he is hitting .439 to Bethancourt's .147. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said the two will split time at the dish, but if there is this much of a disparity at the plate it might be Bethancourt who ends up the backup. At just $2,000 (or 4.0% of cap) Pierzynski is a slam-dunk play in FantasyScore until he cools off.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski was expected to be the backup to C Christian Bethancourt, but the veteran has worked his way into a split for playing time.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($2,000; 4.0% of cap) has hit well when given the opportunity to start, including some nice power numbers, while Bethancourt ($1,900; 3.8% of cap) has struggled with a .147 average (and .194 OBP). FantasyScore owners will want to use Pierzynski for cheap power when he makes the start behind the dish in Atlanta.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski had three hits and a walk in the loss Wednesday, April 22, and he was back in the starting lineup again in a day game Thursday, April 23, over C Christian Bethancourt. Pierzynski was 9-for-23 (.391) with a double, three home runs, five RBI, a .462 on-base percentage and .826 slugging percentage in six games before Thursday. Bethancourt was expected to be the primary catcher, but he's hitting just .133 (4-for-30) with two doubles, two RBI, two walks, a .188 OBP and .200 slugging percentage. Manager Fredi Gonzalez said he'll continue to play Pierzynski if he's hot or the matchups dictate it.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap), 38, has been a surprise for the Braves to start the year, but his pace at the plate surely won't last. However, while he's hot, he can be a nice value play at FantasyScore in the right matchups. Bethancourt ($1,900, 3.8% of cap) owners in deep mixed and NL-only leagues need to stay patient.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski is in the starting lineup Saturday, April 18, and is batting sixth.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($2,000, 4.0% of cap) has start off the season with a .333 batting average with a hit in each of his starts. Pierzynski could be a starting option on FantasyScore, because he is 5-for-15 against Toronto Blue Jays SP R.A. Dickey.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski cracked a two-run homer Wednesday, April 8, against the Miami Marlins, accounting for all of his team's offense in his first start of the season.
Fantasy Tip: Pierzynski ($2,600; 5.2% of cap) is behind Christian Bethancourt ($2,800; 5.6% of cap) on the depth chart, but he is worth using when he gets his chance to start. He obviously proved Wednesday he has a little bit left in the tank.

Atlanta Braves C A.J. Pierzynski will get the start behind the dish Wednesday, April 8, against the Miami Marlins.
Fantasy Tip: If youíre looking to save a little salary, Pierzynski ($2,600; 5.2% of cap) still has a decent stick and is worth a look, especially if you need more salary to afford a stud pitcher or high-end hitter. And for what itís worth, Pierzynski has two hits with an RBI in three career at-bats against probable starter SP Tom Koehler.
