Fantasy Tip: As was mentioned before, Matheny has been backing Mitchell Boggs in the early going. That doesn't mean he'll see the next save chance, though, especially since Edward Mujica has been getting the job done in important situations. Boggs, Trevor Rosenthal and now Mujica should all be owned by saves speculators.

Doctors apparently expected to find one fragment to be causing the issue by pressing against a nerve but instead found multiple fragments. Matheny has instructions to take it easy.

He is expected to rejoin the team in time for their game Thursday, March 14. Bench coach Mike Aldrete will manage the club in Matheny's absence, with first-base coach Chris Maloney moving to bench coach and Triple-A Memphis manager Pop Warner serving as first-base coach.
