Dallas Cowboys.com reports the team has released veteran OL Ben Fricke and veteran WR Darrin Chiaverini. They also released rookie free agent RB Josh Ranek. None of the cuts came as a huge surprise.

Dallas Cowboys.com reports the team has re-signed restricted free agent C Ben Fricke to his one-year, $563,000 tender offer. He is expected to backup Matt Lehr at center this year.

Dallas Cowboys.com reports the team has tendered MLB Dat Nguyen and DT Brandon Noble, both restricted free agents, first-round tenders for next season worth $1.22 million each. The team now have the right of first refusal and could match any deal or could let the player sign with that club and receive a first-round draft pick in compensation. The Cowboys also gave four more restricted free agents tender offers. TE Mike Lucky, WR Darrin Chiaverini, CB Duane Hawthorne and C Ben Fricke all received a $563,000 tender for next season. Only Lucky was drafted by the Cowboy, in the seventh round of 1999.

The Fort Worth-Star Telegram reports the Dallas Cowboys are expected to make tender offers to restricted free agents: WR Darrin Chiaverini, CB Duane Hawthorne, TE Mike Lucky, LB Dat Nguyen, DT Brandon Noble and C Ben Fricke. The tenders have to be extended by Thursday and have to be for at least $563,000.

Nick Eatman reports for Dallas Cowboys.com there are several possibilities for the team to include on their expansion list. Several names mentioned are: C Mark Stepnoski, TE Jackie Harris, FS George Teague, G Ben Fricke, TE/LS Mike Solwold, G Alcender Jackson, FB Robert Thomas, QB Clint Stoerner, TE James Whalen and WR Darrin Chiaverini. Harris and Stepnoski can't be on the list together. Stepnoski's salary increases from $477,000 to $2.75 million next season.

According to Chip Brown of the Dallas Morning News, the Dallas Cowboys may have a makeshift offensive line in place for next weekend's pre-season game. Coach Dave Campo said there's a chance rookie T Char-ron Dorsey, G Craig Page, C Ben Fricke, rookie G Matt Lehr and T Dan Collins could be the starters.

The official site of the Dallas Cowboys reports TE Ryan Collins will enter training camp as the man to beat at deep snapper. However, backup center Ben Fricke also has been working at deep snapper and plans to give Collins heated competition.

The Dallas Morning News reports the release earlier this off-season of long-snapper Dale Hellestrae has the Dallas Cowboys looking for a new long-snapper. Their choices right now are OL Ben Fricke or TE Ryan Collins, who played in the XFL for the New York/New Jersey Hitmen.

According to their official site, the Dallas Cowboys have re-signed P Micah Knorr and PK Tim Seder to their one-year, $289,000 tender offers. WR Chris Brazzell and C Ben Fricke are expected to re-sign their tender offers on Tuesday. The team would like to sign their remaining tendered players by the end of the week.

Other players previously reported as tendered, received the following offers: WR Chris Brazzell ($418,000), OC Ben Fricke ($418,000), CB Duane Hawthorne ($418,000), WR Damon Hodge ($389,000), P Micah Knorr ($389,000), DT Brandon Noble ($418,000) PK Tim Seder ($389,000), and WR Jason Tucker ($418,000).

According to their official site, the Dallas Cowboys made minimum tender offers of $512,000 to LB Darren Hambrick, S Izell Reese, DT Michael Myers and FB Robert Thomas earlier today. The team also gave tender offers to eight exclusive-rights free agents: DT Brandon Noble, WR Chris Brazzell, OL Ben Fricke, WR Damon Hodge, CB Duane Hawthorne, WR Jason Tucker, P Micah Knorr and PK Tim Seder.

Jean Jacques-Taylor reports in the Sporting News the Dallas Cowboys want to take a long look at TE James Whalen in mini-camp and training camp as an H-back. They feels he's too small and too slow to play as an every down TE. The team also wants to look at OC Ben Fricke as a deep snapper this off-season. Dale Hellestrae is due a $500,000 salary, but all he can do is deep snap. DE Greg Ellis had a screw removed from his leg and the Cowboys expect Ellis to be ready for training camp and at full strength. The team continues to look at the QB situation and is one of the teams contemplating signing CFL product Henry Burris.

Cowboys | Injury Update

The Fort Worth Star-Telegram reports Dallas Cowboys S Darren Woodson (fractured forearm), TE Jackie Harris (sprained knee) and C Ben Fricke (personal reasons) missed practice on Monday. Harris stated that nothing will keep him from playing this week and he intends to practice on Thursday. Woodson is unlikely to play once again this week.
