Wedge left the Mariners earlier this month after three seasons. The Cubs' list of managerial candidates includes A.J. Hinch, Manny Acta, Rick Renteria and Dave Martinez. Boston Red Sox bench coach Torey Lovullo is expected to be interviewed after the World Series.

The San Diego Padres have extended the contracts of vice president/assistant general managers Fred Uhlman Jr. and Jason McLeod through the 2013 season. They have also promoted A.J. Hinch to vice president/assistant general manager. Hinch, who had been hired by the Padres last September as vice president of professional scouting, also has a contract that runs through 2013.
