Astros | Lance McCullers could start next weekend?

Sun, 08 May 2016 12:54:21 -0700

Houston Astros SP Lance McCullers (shoulder) is scheduled to play catch Sunday, May 08, and throw a bullpen session on Monday, May 9. If his arm responds well, it is "very possible" he could start against the Boston Red Sox next weekend, according to manager A.J. Hinch.

Fantasy Tip: McCullers has torn it up in two minor-league rehab starts, allowing a run on five hits and two walks while fanning 11 over eight innings. The 22-year-old, who struck out 129 in 125 2/3 innings as a rookie in 2015, should have an immediate impact on a team that has posted a 4.69 team ERA entering play Sunday. He needs to be owned in all leagues, although owners should probably see how he performs against the Red Sox before starting him.

Astros | Evan Gattis to start catching

Sun, 24 Apr 2016 14:16:19 -0700

Houston Astros C Evan Gattis will start catching games this season when the game itself is not on the line, according to manager A.J. Hinch.

Fantasy Tip: Hinch indicated Gattis would catch earlier this season, and the plan appears to be ntroducing Gattis to catching slowly and deliberately. No word yet on how this plan will impact Jason Castro owners, although Gattis definitely has the better bat and Castro would likely lose playing time. Be prepared to earn extra lineup flexibility with Gattis as well.

Astros | Marwin Gonzalez to see time at first

Tue, 22 Mar 2016 13:49:51 -0700

Houston Astros SS Marwin Gonzalez will see time at first base this season, according to manager A.J. Hinch.

Fantasy Tip: Gonzalez is one of those super-utility players that can play a variety of positions, and it only makes sense he would see time at first. With Chris Carter gone and Jonathan Singleton not having shown signs of brilliance, Gonzalez could pick up some key at-bats.
