New York Yankees SS Derek Jeter (wrist) rolled his left wrist making a diving stop in the hole in the second inning Saturday, May 26, against the Oakland Athletics. "I was concerned,'' said Yankees manager Joe Girardi, who was almost out of the dugout to check on the shortstop. "But Robby [Cano] waved us off.'' Instead, Jeter stayed in the game and went 2-for-4, tying George Brett for 14th all-time with 3,154 career hits.

New York Yankees SP Freddy Garcia gave up five runs and six hits in 1 2/3 innings Saturday, April 28, against the Detroit Tigers, raising questions about his rotation role. "I can't tell you exactly what we're going to do," manager Joe Girardi said. "I'm not going to come to any rash decisions, but obviously we're trying to evaluate what's going on here." Girardi was late to his postgame press conference because he was meeting with Garcia, telling the pitcher "we'd sleep on it and talk (Sunday)." Girardi also admitted he is "wondering" whether there is something physically wrong with Garcia, too.
