Detroit Tigers SS Jose Iglesias (shins) continues to be sidelined because of shin splints and is receiving treatment for the injuries. Manager Brad Ausmus indicated Iglesias will need to return soon if he wants to be ready for the start of the season. "We're going to hit that point in Spring Training where there won't be enough games for him to get at-bats to be ready for the season," Ausmus said. "We've talked about it internally. We haven't set a firm date on that, but there is going to be a point where if he can't get on the field because of the injury, we're going to have to make a decision."

The Detroit Tigers have been in touch with the Los Angeles Dodgers about a potential trade for OF Matt Kemp, according to sources. Those sources say the primary concern of the Dodgers in a trade is quality of return, and the team is willing to include cash to get better players. Manager Brad Ausmus was a teammate with Kemp in L.A. at one point.
