Cleveland Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. has been ruled out of the running to be the next manager of the Boston Red Sox. Detroit Tigers third base coach Gene Lamont will have a second interview with management and Toronto Blue Jays coach Torey Lovullo is still a candidate.

The Chicago Cubs interviewed Cleveland Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. for their managerial vacancy Friday, Nov. 11. General manager Jed Hoyer said the field may be complete. "Quite probably, yes," Hoyer said. "I wouldn't guarantee it is. But we feel really good about the four guys we brought in. I wouldn't rule out an additional candidate, but it's not a certainty, either." The team also interviewed Philadelphia Phillies bench coach Pete Mackannin, Milwaukee Brewers hitting coach Dave Sveum and Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux.

Chicago Cubs executive Theo Epstein has spoken with former manager Terry Francona about the team's managerial opening, and the two will speak again to determine if he is the right fit for the Cubs. Philadelphia Phillies bench coach Pete Mackanin will interview Wednesday, Nov. 3, and Texas Rangers pitching coach Mike Maddux is also set for an interview. The Cubs will also look at Boston Red Sox coach DeMarlo Hale, Cleveland Indians bench coach Sandy Alomar Jr. and Tampa Bay Rays bench coach Dave Martinez.
