Former MLB CL Mark Wohlers and his family are safe after a fire engulfed their home early Tuesday, March 1, The Associated Press reports. Wohlers called his wife, Kimberly, a hero for waking him up in the night and gathering the couple's three children. Firefighters were told it was a porch fire. It quickly spread to the roof and the rest of the home.

Updating previous items, the AP reports Cleveland Indians RP Mark Wohlers (elbow) will likely miss the remainder of the 2003 season after MRI results showed he had ligament damage to his right elbow. He has a tear in the graft from previous ligament surgery performed in 2000. Manager Eric Wedge stated Wohlers would not require any more surgery but would have to be shut down for six weeks doing nothing. “We are talking about three months off for him to be all the way back,” said Wedge. “He’s pretty much done for the year.” Wohlers hasn't pitched at all this season.
