Sports Network reports the Houston Astros released veteran P Rick White Thursday, June 28. The 38-year-old had gone 1-0 with a 7.67 ERA in 23 appearances this year. He had appeared in five games since returning from the disabled list for a neck injury, but had struggled in the last three.

Alyson Footer, of Houston.Astros.MLB.com, reports Houston Astros RP Rick White (neck) threw 27 pitches in a simulated game Friday, June 15. White reported no problems afterwards and is optimistic that he will be activated from the disabled list soon. He could be activated by Sunday, June 17.

Updating a previous report, Alyson Footer, of Houston.Astros.MLB.com, reports Houston Astros RP Rick White (neck) will throw a simulated game Friday, June 15, and will do so again Sunday, June 17, or Monday, June 18, before possibly being activated off the disabled list in the middle of next week.
