According to The Denver Rocky Mountain News' Tracy Ringolsby, the Colorado Rockies have signed P Dave Veres to a minor-league contract that includes an invitation to the big-league camp for spring training. Contract terms weren't disclosed for Veres, who has missed the past two seasons due to hip problems. "The big concern was making sure there was no residual effect from pitching on the hip," Veres said. "I told (Rockies general manager Dan O'Dowd) I'm not trying to eke out one more year. I want to pitch three, four more years. My whole career has been built around challenging the odds. That doesn't bother me."
