ESPN.com reports former Boston Red Sox RP Ugueth Urbina has been found guilty of illegal deprivation of liberty and violating a prohibition against taking justice into his own hands during a dispute over a gun Oct. 16, 2005. He has been sentenced to 14 years in prison.

Updating a previous item, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's T.R. Sullivan reports free agent RP Ugueth Urbina (Phillies) remains in jail in his native Venezuela for charges of attempted murder. Urbina stands accused of attacking five men who worked on his ranch.

Phillies | Urbina Arrested, Charged with Attempted Murder

The Associated Press reports free agent RP Ugueth Urbina was arrested and charged with attempted murder in his native Venezuela. Urbina and a group of men allegedly attacked several of his employees at his family home with machetes and attempted to set them on fire. Urbina claims he was asleep at the time and had nothing to do with it. Five workers were injured, and one of them suffered burns on the back of his right arm. One of the five has accused Urbina as being one of them who threatened them with machetes and poured gasoline on them attempting to set them on fire.

According to The Associated Press, Philadelphia Phillies RP Ugueth Urbina was briefly questioned by police and then released as authorities investigated accusations that he assaulted several men after a party at his family's home in Venezuela.

The Associated Press reports Philadelphia Phillies RP Ugueth Urbina struggled in his appearance Thursday, June 9, his first since being acquired by the Phillies. Urbina, who entered the game in the ninth inning, allowed four earned runs while retiring only one batter.

Rob Maaddi, of the Associated Press, reports Philadelphia Phillies RP Ugueth Urbina will pitch in a setup role for the Phillies after coming over in a trade from the Detroit Tigers. He should get occasional chances for saves when CL Billy Wagner needs to rest. "I know my role," said Urbina. "I'm fine with that."
