Former MLB RP Ugueth Urbina, who is currently pitching for the Lions of Caracas in his native Venezuela, said he would like to play professional baseball in the United States again. The 38-year-old Urbina was released from prison Dec. 23, after serving 7 1/2 years in prison for attempted murder during a dispute over a gun in 2005.

Former major league All-Star CL Ugueth Urbina spent Christmas as a free man after he was released from a Venezuelan prison after serving more than five years on an attempted-murder conviction. Urbina was accused of attacking multiple men on his property in November 2005, allegedly trying to set them on fire and going after at least one with a machete. He was convicted in March 2007 and given a 14-year sentence.

Updating a previous item, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram's T.R. Sullivan reports free agent RP Ugueth Urbina (Phillies) remains in jail in his native Venezuela for charges of attempted murder. Urbina stands accused of attacking five men who worked on his ranch.

The Associated Press reports free agent RP Ugueth Urbina was arrested and charged with attempted murder in his native Venezuela. Urbina and a group of men allegedly attacked several of his employees at his family home with machetes and attempted to set them on fire. Urbina claims he was asleep at the time and had nothing to do with it. Five workers were injured, and one of them suffered burns on the back of his right arm. One of the five has accused Urbina as being one of them who threatened them with machetes and poured gasoline on them attempting to set them on fire.
